Herbie Soul (aka Herbie “Nataraj” Tribino) was born and raised in Queens, New York of Latino parents that immigrated from Colombia, South America. He got his first break at the age of 18 when EMI Records Recording Artist Christopher Max discovered him at a Gourmet Deli in Chelsea Manhattan. Max needed a keyboard player for his debut album’s nationwide promotional tour and an upcoming appearance on Soul Train, which took Herbie on his first trip to Los Angeles, where he performed at Paramount Pictures.
A year later, the guitarist of Max’s band led Herbie to work with Geffen Recording Artist Tony LeMans on a recording project at Eddie Murphy’s New Jersey home. LeMans’ s girlfriend introduced Herbie to ‘Brat Pack’ actor Anthony Michael Hall, with whom Herbie wrote songs and composed the score for Anthony’s directorial debut “Hail Caesar” starring Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel Jackson and Judd Nelson, with a cameo appearance by Herbie.
Two years later, an even bigger break led Herbie to join multi-platinum, top 10, Pop Hip-Hop group "PM Dawn,” known for hits such as "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss,” and “I'd Die without You.” Fulfilling roles as musical director, collaborator, and recording/touring band member in PM Dawn led to appearances on MTV, Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, Jonathon Ross and British and French TV. Herbie got a legitimate taste of the rockstar life.
Concomitantly, he caught the ear of iconic music producer Nile Rodgers (Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Daft Punk) who took Herbie under his wing program, to co-write and co-produce for a plethora of artists; most notably lending Herbie’s hip, cutting edge, eclectic, pop-urban-rock genre sound to the remake of Sly & the Family Stone’s classic “Everyday People” by Maroon 5.
Just when Herbie thought life couldn’t get any busier, Lou Pearlman (NSYNC, Backstreet Boys) of the infamous Transcontinental Records, whom he met backstage at a Match Box 20 concert, hired Herbie to produce his new artists.
Herbie’s credits span names such as Maroon 5, Adam Levine, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Faith Evans, Queen Latifah, Angie Stone, Eric Sermon, George Michael, Boy George, Sir Paul McCartney, Michael Bolton, Sinead O'Conner, Lenny Kravitz, Devin Lima, Ike Turner, Steve Vai, Paula Abdul, Bee Gees and more. You can hear his songs and productions in blockbuster movies such as Rush Hour 2, Cuba Gooding Jr.’s "Snow Dogs,” Kelly Clarkson’s Fox film “From Justin to Kelly,” “Hail Caesar w/ Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall, Solange Knowles’ Universal Pictures ”Bring It On: All or Nothing;” video game soundtracks Microsoft’s Xbox Halo; commercial TV spots for Jose Cuervo Tequila, Reebok, Phillip Morris, Elizabeth Arden and many more.
In 2020, Herbie produced the debut single of up-and-coming folk-rock artist, Franki Pineapple. The indie hit “F*ck it Man!” served as an anti-establishment ode to Apple Inc., who sued the artist for appropriating a fruit with her trademark, but lost the suit when the artist refused to back down.
As well, Herbie was featured in the much-anticipated 2022 “Unsung PM Dawn” documentary released on TV One.
In 2024 Herbie received a Spotify 1 Million streams platinum award for the Microsoft remix Single "Never Surrender " written and co produced with Nile Rodgers with a follow up new full song version release pending. Currently working out of his Hollywood Hills recording studio “Flow Studios,” Herbie is producing his Pop Neo Soul debut solo project on which he sings, raps and plays all instruments. His first single “Empathy” will be released soon. You can see Herbie Performing at local L.A. Venues Like the Iconic "Viper Room'.
